Physician Face-to-Face Encounter National Survey: Please Comment

The Home Care Alliance will be traveling to Washington DC later this month to advocate on many issues of concern, including the physician face-to-face encounter requirement set to be enforced starting April 1.

Please see this summary of results from a nationwide survey and let the Alliance know if your agency is in line with how other home health providers from across the country answered.

The survey was conducted by the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) and is important in helping HCA shape the message that will be delivered to our Congressional delegation and other key government officials.

  1. We are a small free standing agency serving an elderlay population average age of 84.2yrs. We have experienced > 5o% of Physician offices stating they are not familiar with new requirement. Forms returned to us as are incomplete and have to be resent w/re-education 80% of the time. Surgeons are refusing to complete forms. PCP are trying but unfamiliar with Medicare terminology for homebound/skilled care.

  2. We are a small municipal agency serving a case load of 100 -125 clients. Our community physicians have been receptive to F2F because we have sent them info, however, some of the SNF s who are part of large corporations have no plans in place for F2F and will not sign forms for F2F. We are very concerned that if we accept referrals from these agencies we will not be able to get a F2F if patient unable to leave home.

  3. It is good idea that the Home Care Alliance will be traveling to Washington DC later this month to advocate on many issues of concern, including the physician face-to-face encounter requirement set to be enforced starting April 1 this will mean a better process of rendering home care.
